WWII Pacific Theatre in Color
Finding 15 minutes here and there adds up quite well. Color-modulation is now done on this OT-34 from Dragon models. For those of you that have followed this blog, knows that construction on this model was completed at the first week of the year. But a massive series of misfortunes have really tested my temper on this one. Therefore it will rightfully receive the number 13 on it’s turret. Let’s just hope that the rest goes well now. Weathering and detail painting is up next. It’s hard to take good pictures of it, but here it is:
I have finally completed the build of my “First in Bastogne” Sherman jumbo from Tasca. It features a lot of extras from several different companies. Next up: Primer!
I can finally show the progress on my first ever Diorama build. It represents a retreating Soviet KV-2 tank stuck on a railway trestle bridge during October 1941. Supposedly attacked by a dive bomber such as a German Stuka, the Crew managed to escape the tank in time. But when they get back they see that the Stuka kinda missed the tank but still managed to destroy the bridge and disable the KV. Therefor the title “No Way Home”
This is the Dragon OT-34/76 built with some extras from Voyager and Aber. I built this as a quick project to try out some new painting ideas I have. The tracks are just temporary fitted here.
Just a quick teaser of what’s brewing. The King Cobra M4A3E2 Jumbo based on the model from Tasca. More updates on this build very soon.
As I daily scavenge the web for references I thought that I might as well post my findings here.
This first part will be dedicated to the M4A3E2 Assault Tank – postwar nickname “Jumbo”/”Cobra King” – extra armour (including 4″ on front), vertical sided turret, but about 3-4 mph slower. Built with 75 mm gun but frequently re-armed by the using units with 76-mm guns.
Users: US, France (one vehicle)
A total of only 254 tanks was built.

A brief operational history on the Jumbo
I had a lot of problem with the snow camouflage on this model. I used the hairspray technique and the color would not loosen up. I was ready to shelf the model but a tip from Sven Young to use MicroSol saved the day! Thank you again!

The camouflage also received some heavy “mapping” with white Humbrol enamel. Explained here.
