I can finally show the progress on my first ever Diorama build. It represents a retreating Soviet KV-2 tank stuck on a railway trestle bridge during October 1941. Supposedly attacked by a dive bomber such as a German Stuka, the Crew managed to escape the tank in time. But when they get back they see that the Stuka kinda missed the tank but still managed to destroy the bridge and disable the KV. Therefor the title “No Way Home”
I just recently started the construction of a knocked out KV-2 on a railway bridge. I will soon post pictures of the completed construction before painting. But I thought I could start with sharing some of the inspiration for this diorama.
This is the Dragon OT-34/76 built with some extras from Voyager and Aber. I built this as a quick project to try out some new painting ideas I have. The tracks are just temporary fitted here.
This is my Guam Sherman M4A2 that I finished a couple of weeks ago. It’s the Dragon Tarawa M4A2 kit with wading stacks from Tank-Workshop and hand crafted stowage. The wading stacks were not prototypical so I had to modify them to match the real prototype. To be correct the wading stacks were welded flush on the hull instead of being separated from the tank.
The idea with this model was to try and heavily layer different oils to create variation in the base color. I believe that not much of show through the weathering dough but I will definitely try and take it even further next time.
A quick update on the painting progress.
Out of the box model, just some extra stowage and small details added.
The construction phase is now complete. A lot of work went in to the wading stacks.
