The Oakland waterfront was a real busy place in it’s hayday. Several ports and ferry terminals connected Oakland to San Francisco and to the rest of the world.
Point Richmond Ferry Terminal was operated by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway and a big piece of the pier can still be seen today. Zoom in to check out all the cool details of the pier:
I have begun taking small steps in to the scale of On30. I have really fallen in love with all the potential of detailing and weathering in a scale bigger than I am used to and closer to my scale modeling. This will not replace my N-scale modeling but serve as a complementary scale.
This is my first humble steps in to the scale and represents an ice reefer car. The model is just an Bachmann Spectrum car that I have given some heavy weathering.
These are more of an experiment I made this autumn try an weather a couple of cars in just on sitting. I made these on one night only just to see what was possible in that time frame. When you have hundreds of cars and want to paint them all, there is no other way really. I think they are OK, nothing special but presentable.
I have always found the history of Milwaukee Railroad to be very intriguing. Hard to describe what it is, but the combination of heavy industrialization and the glory days of US railroads make Milwaukee an interesting spot for historical research. Also Milwaukee have an old history of brewing alcohol and the railroads played a key part in sustaining the breweries, which adds to the lure. Here are some of the pictures I found from my extensive ninja googling.
Just won these babies on Ebay. They will be a real treat to detail and weather. Western Pacific used these old F units from the 1950’s all the way to Western Pacifics end in 1982. So I can really go all the way with the weathering and make them stand out really well.
I can finally show the progress on my first ever Diorama build. It represents a retreating Soviet KV-2 tank stuck on a railway trestle bridge during October 1941. Supposedly attacked by a dive bomber such as a German Stuka, the Crew managed to escape the tank in time. But when they get back they see that the Stuka kinda missed the tank but still managed to destroy the bridge and disable the KV. Therefor the title “No Way Home”
I just recently started the construction of a knocked out KV-2 on a railway bridge. I will soon post pictures of the completed construction before painting. But I thought I could start with sharing some of the inspiration for this diorama.
This is the Dragon OT-34/76 built with some extras from Voyager and Aber. I built this as a quick project to try out some new painting ideas I have. The tracks are just temporary fitted here.
What better way to celebrate the coming holydays than with a big old dirty steam engine working hard in the atmospheric snowfall. Have a good one and see you soon.
Hi my name is Andreas Grewin and I work as an Interactive Art Director in Stockholm, Sweden. This site represents one of my interest during my past time. With this site I really want to show the world and the people around me what a amazing and creative hobby this is.
